For a start, A • Toast Breakfast & Juice Bar does not look like it belongs in Pudu at all. Even though they are relatively new, the social media is abuzz with this quaint little cafe thanks to their ever-photogenic toasts and sandwiches.
Looking at A • Toast’s menu, it’s obvious that sandwiches are the bread and butter of their business. Almost everything is made to order for freshness purpose and even the breads are baked fresh daily.
There are four types of bread available: white, wholemeal, black sesame and bamboo charcoal. Each sandwich has its unique pairing of bread and ingredients which are well-thought of by the owner.
The difference between the Regular and Deluxe version of Bamboo Charcoal Toast Sandwich (with scrambled egg & cheese) is that the latter comes with extra chicken floss @ RM9.30.
While the sandwich appears like it’s generously loaded with toppings, the chicken floss is only on the outside; inside there’s barely any of it. That said, we can’t deny that it’s a wicked sandwich. It’s tasty on its own so there’s no need for excessive condiments to perk up the flavor.
The Grilled Chicken Sandwich Open Sandwich @ RM12.90 should be open faced. However since we were taking away (it was near closing time) it was packed like a regular sandwich instead.
After being refrigerated for a few hours it still managed to taste good – though not as savory as the bamboo charcoal’s. The amount of filling was more than satisfactory so the price didn’t bother me.
A • Toast’s pure (without added sugar) and freshly made juices are no doubt delightful. But the same couldn’t be said for their coffee – it’s not terrible, just drinkable. Better top a few bucks and get the juice instead.
